Aerosmith Takes Flight 40 Years Ago On Get Your Wings Tyler, Perry, Hamilton, Whitford, Kramer InTheStudio

(Dallas, TX) -  InTheStudio.NET, the web home for North American syndicated rock radio show InTheStudio: The Stories Behind History’s Greatest Rock Bands celebrates the 40th anniversary of Aerosmith’s second album Get Your Wings.
New England quintet Aerosmith hatched in January 1973 with their self-titled album, but it wouldn’t be until the release of their sophomore effort Get Your Wings in Spring 1974 that Aerosmith would take off by defining the sound that would soon become America’s premiere hard rock band.
For Get Your Wings, Aerosmith enlisted the talents of producer Jack Douglas, whose crystal clear production provided a much needed boost sonically, as proof on the Aerosmith classics “Same Old Song and Dance”, “Lord of the Thighs”, “S.O.S. (Too Bad)”, “Seasons of Wither”, “Pandora’s Box” and the all important matrix that gave New Yorker Steven Tyler common ground with New Hampshire boys Joe Perry and Tom Hamilton, The Yardbirds’ “Train Kept A Rollin’ “.
It is the solid bottom end provided by drummer Joey Kramer and bassist Tom Hamilton with Joe Perry’s stiletto guitar licks a top the weaving three dimensional rhythm guitar play of Brad Whitford that makes Aerosmith’s instrumentation so alluring.  Steven Tyler’s distinctive voice seduces the ears of listeners, and together the band would explode a mere album later with Toys In The Attic.
Joey Kramer tells InTheStudio host Redbeard how the hard work put into the band in those early years has been the reason Aerosmith’s sound remains timeless today.
“An album like this (Get Your Wings) is what it is because of how it was made, and the amount of time that was spent on those songs and recording this record is the reason … why it will stand up ten years from now.”
